I am offering for sale here a lovely Seiko Elnix watch from the 1970s.  The Elnix model is a fundamentally a mechanical movement all be it powered by a battery instead of a mainspring. The watch gets its regulation from a conventional balance wheel so there is no quartz in sight just a small circuit board to power the coil which is sandwiched between the two wheels that make up the balance wheel that have magnets on them polar opposite to the coil.  The interesting thing is the whole thing runs backwards in that the balance powers the pallet fork to the escape wheel to drive the train of wheels.  As a hobbyist repairer like me I find these fascinating and have made a video on restoring one of these here: https://youtu.be/Riq8s-Kmk1o

I have done a lot of work to this watch to make it look as good as it can but also to make it run reliably for you.  The movement has been totally stripped down, inspected and cleaned assembled and oiled and its now running perfectly. It is also a high beat movement so you get a more smoother tick on these.

The dial is an iridescent brown colour with silver coloured indices that have painted white stripes on them and a matching set of hands. The indices are quite something and look like wedges! Seiko in the 70s never disappoint! The 0703 movement will hack for precise time setting and the battery gives you assurance that leaving it off the wrist for a few days it will be still keeping accurate time.  There is a day date complication where the day wheel is in English and Japanese, both can be quickset.

Watch still has its original facet crystal installed. To find a new one is incredibly difficult as this is one of the rarer designs.  I have opted to keep the original as I think it adds to the overall look.  There are scratches to it unfortunately but not enough to hamper time reading.

The case shape is full of angles with a mainly high polished finish but there is two parts that are brushed.  I have lightly polished all mirrored surfaces, bezel and caseback to bring back its shine.  I have also repolished the centre links of the bracelet and a new application of brushing to the outer parts of the bracelet.  I have not removed any of the age related scratches but overall this watch is in good condition.

New gaskets to the case back and crown although being vintage I do not recommend swimming or bathing with the watch on as I cannot guarantee any significant water resistance.

I do encourage you to look at all the photos and watch the videos (with the sound on) in this listing to help with any purchase decision.
