Citizen Cosmotron Facet Crystal ( As featured on the channel)

For sale here is this lovely Citizen Cosmotron that had a whole episode on My Retro Watches channel. At the time it was my first encounter with a Cosmotron and this hybrid battery powered watch that is regulated by a balance wheel.  Its from an era when quartz was just coming onto the market and horology was experimenting with different ways to make watches more accurate.  This solution was to have a battery as a mainspring that would send current through a circuit to a coil that is sandwiched under the balance wheel. The wheel has magnets and as the coil pulses the magnets repel creating the swing of the wheel.  This then goes up through the train and down the canon pinion to the hands. Essentially powering a watch backwards compared to a mechanical watch.  With it being battery it could be more accurate and of course will not stop when you take it off.  
These beat at 36,000 a minute but the second hand sweeps more like an 18,000. Its a quirk I guess.

I have given this another service to be sure its running well. New battery to give it the best of health.  Crystal is facetted and glass so there are marks and age related scuffs.  I am unable to find a replacement for it. 
Watch has been fitted on a generic bracelet which I think compliments it quite well, these bracelets are for sale also in the store.

A rare chance to own something that has been on the channel as I don't often sell watches I have filmed. I am only selling this one because I have a few other Cosmotrons in the collection that I like and wear more often so this one can be passed on to make room for more!!!
