Citizen Hisonic Tuning Fork Watch 1970s

Here is an opportunity to own a watch I have featured on my channel!

It was a painstaking restoration that took a long time but I feel the watch at the end is deserving of it and it now has a whole new lease of life for many years to come.
Why am I selling it? well I already have a good collection of these so this one can go to a lucky buyer and I get to keep the lights on at home a bit longer! 

The Citizen Hisonic is a tuning fork movement that takes a known vibration from the tuning fork and transfers that into motion of wheels to tell the time. Its ingenious to me and a real accomplishment in horology. Invented back in the 60s by Bulova the Accutron was the most accurate wrist watch in its day, leaps ahead of anything else at the time, and all before mass produced quartz watches was a thing.

This watch sits somewhere in the 1970s and is a really a Bulova 218 movement branded as Citizen.  It has an audible hum and a smooth second hand to die for.  Probably why I am so fascinated with them.
I have have cleaned and serviced this movement and regulated so its now within a few seconds a day on my bench. On a wrist this may vary but it will be still very accurate.

I finished it with a sapphire crystal so nice and scratch resistant.  The crystal is very thin so it can fit properly, so avoid big bangs. 

Fitted on a fine mesh strap to complete the look.

One last thing to note is that these take a 344 battery which has its positive down in the movement. Batteries do not last long! 8 months or more so just be aware of that.
