Here is a lovely Seiko Elnix from 1973 that has taken a lot of work to save this one but with a dial like this it really needed to be saved and put back into service.

The movement has received a full inspection and service and its now running very well with a brand new battery installed. (see video)  watch has had a light polish to bring back its shine, a new crystal and new gaskets to the crown and caseback.
It now just needing to find a wrist to call home!

The Elinx is a fantastic movement from an era when quartz was just beginning to take hold. This is a mechanical watch with a battery replacing a mainspring and a small transistorised circuit that sends a pulse to the coil. The coil is sandwiched between the balance wheel which has magnets on it.  The pulse makes the coil react to the magnets causing the balance to spin. This makes timekeeping more consistent and the watch will not stop. You get a mechanical smooth tick second hand sweep with the reliability of a battery meaning you can take this watch off for days and not have to worry about setting the time again when you pick it up.
I find this short lived complication ingenious and you can see how watchmaking was being innovative to find reliability and more accurate timekeeping.
If you collect watches then you really need one of these hybrids in your collection!

Being a vintage watch I do not guarantee any real waterproofing so I do not recommend showering or swimming with this type of watch.

Fitted on a brand new leather Omega style 19mm strap.

I have also re-lumed the hands.
