Here we have an early Seiko Sportsmatic 5 dating from December 1965. The Sportsmatic 5 was the first Seiko 5 model launched in 1963. The 5 stands for 5 features.  A day-date display, a crown at 4, water resistance and a durable case and bracelet & an automatic movement. This one has lost its bracelet though. It did arrive with one but I don't think its original but will include it in the parcel anyway.
I have given this watch a full comprehensive inspection and service and its now running well, especially given its 60 years old. I am sure it can tell a few stories but more importantly it can tell a few more now its been freshened up and given a new life.
Inside houses the 6619 automatic movement. This cant be hand wound or hacked which is typical of Seiko in this line of watches. Movement is in great condition with very little sign of wear.
The dial has some mild patina that is effecting part of the lacquer but its only just noticeable i and in my opinion gives it character. The day date display is English only and the day cannot be quickset the date can.  Please see my video in this post on how this works.

Watch has had a brand new acrylic crystal fitted and a new destressed looking leather strap to compliment the watch. A new crown and caseback gasket has been fitted but please do not swim or bathe with a watch like this as I will not guarantee any real waterproofing.
